The artifact for this course is a business proposal about prescription transparency in the United States. I discussed the benefits of having an application that provides information about medications including prices, side effects and dosage. In this proposal I also examine the ability to have a comprehensive app that healthcare providers and patients could use to provide enhanced patient outcomes and cost-effective savings. This artifact demonstrates my learning in this course by helping me further understand the importance of the United States healthcare system and its policies and initiatives. It also taught me that there is a lot of room for growth in providing more effective patient care through policy changes such as the Affordable Care Act. Furthermore, this course helped further explain the significance of healthcare delivery systems in the United States and its impact on patients and providers. This final artifact demonstrates the learning outcomes of health science knowledge management as well as systems design and management. Completing this artifact has helped with my personal goal of understanding how health insurance plays an integral role in receiving health care benefits such as medications and appointments. As someone who currently works on auditing claims for health insurance, it was very interesting to learn more of the backend of how claims are initially processed. Furthermore, the research done from this artifact has helped me further understand what processes can be potentially done in order to have cost effective savings in my own company. In conclusion, this business proposal has helped me brainstorm other ideas on how to save money in healthcare.
The artifact I chose for this course is an eight-step strategic planning process map for my current healthcare company Catalyst Healthcare Analytics. I discussed support strategies to help improve the business and described the culture of the company as a whole. In this process map I also created a mission statement and set an action plan that can be implemented by Catalyst. This artifact demonstrates my learning in this course by helping me further understand the importance of creating strategies in helping an organization achieve its mission, vision, and goals. It also taught me how to understand organizational objectives which could be translated into action plans. The final artifact demonstrates my learning outcomes of systems design and management as well as leadership and systems management. Completing a strategic planning process map for Catalyst has helped me with my personal goal of setting actionable steps that can be measurable and attainable within the next six months for my current company. As someone who currently works in healthcare analytics it was beneficial to be able to create a step-by-step strategic plan and assess weaknesses and strengths of my current company. Furthermore, the research done from this artifact has taught me that learning the current market in healthcare can be a vital resource to improve your own company. In conclusion, creating a strategic planning process map has helped me conceptualize how I can implement new ideas to Catalyst in my current role as well as refine the current strategies which could improve patient care as a whole.
